Discography
Joseph Delaney’s musical journey is deeply personal and reflects his lifelong passion for creating, teaching, and performing music. His original compositions and recordings showcase both his technical ability and emotional depth.
His solo album, Obsessions in My Head, is a powerful body of work exploring life’s challenges, triumphs, and creative spirit through a unique blend of musical theatre, opera, pop rock, film score, and spiritual genres. Each track is an intimate story that highlights his versatility as a composer, performer, and freelance music tutor.
One of his most emotional compositions captures the loneliness many experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic — a song about the ache of separation and the quiet hope that music can bring. The track, St. Corona, pays tribute to resilience and faith in difficult times.
In addition to his solo work, Joseph was the main keyboard player for the genre-blending band Mighty Fine, a pop-rock and hip-hop group based in Port Glasgow. Together, they recorded four original tracks at the former Wildtrack Studios in Devol Industrial Estate, producing a vibrant, collaborative sound that reflects his passion for high-quality music tuition and creative teamwork.
His travels with Limelight introduced him to music for special needs and mentoring, teaching percussion and music in Oxgangs, Edinburgh, where the band performed for a special needs school. Mentored by former Artistic Director Gordon Dougall — founder of Sounds of Progress (now Limelight Music) — Joseph deepened his understanding of music mentoring for autistic children, using rhythm and melody to build confidence and connection.
Pictured: me at The Fairful Collection Cafe, Paisley — a favourite memory from a few years ago playing piano in their lounge. This was the outfit I wore at the time. They no longer have the piano there.
He also brought his teaching to a Catholic primary school in Linwood, leading staff sessions on creative education, and later worked one-to-one as a music tutor for adults with autism in Foxbar, Paisley. These experiences inspired his approach to tailored lessons for children and adults alike, designed to support emotional growth and self-expression through music.
Joseph credits Enable Scotland in Greenock for guiding him early in his career. It was at the former Devol Centre, Port Glasgow, that he met Gordon Dougall and earned a place in Sounds of Progress after an impromptu keyboard performance. Not long after, he taught bass guitar to an adult with Down syndrome — an experience that shaped his passion for inclusive music education and as a music facilitator for special needs. During my time with Limelight I worked on composing music and percussion for special needs adults at a day centre alongside a Music Therapist.
His musical ability also led him to perform with the jazz trio The Clyde Stompers — saxophone, drums, and Joseph on keyboard — for local events such as housing estate openings in Dunfermline. He’s also entertained audiences at the former Unity Club in Port Glasgow, playing Children by the late Robert Miles producer and Trance musician for a retirement party for the late beloved ice-cream man Johnny Coia.
Thanks to Values into Action Scotland, Joseph’s journey expanded into event work at venues across Scotland, including the Ayr Races, Renfrew gala events, Glasgow Green, the Tour of Britain, and football matches at Stirling Albion F.C., Ibrox, Parkhead, and St Mirren F.C.
Today, Joseph continues to grow his discography while teaching piano, violin, bass guitar and acoustic guitar every Wednesday,Thursday at Melrose Music School Stepps, Scotland. I can also teach as an online music tutor and expert in ABRSM exam preparation, he helps students build skill, confidence, and artistry — proving that music is not only performance but also listening, education, and connection.
